I plugged the satellite speakers to my old power unit and they worked fine. I plugged the system in to try it out and it made a very loud audible "pop" sound through the speakers and nothing more came out. The new system had a much lighter feel to it throughout and the quality didn't appear to be like my original (this is apparently how they had kept the price the same for so long). Upon receiving this unit, which was purchased through Best Buy on Ebay, I was in anguish. Upon searching for a new 2.1 system, I was pleasantly surprised to find the cost of the new system was the same that I had spent on the original some four years earlier. I decided to just buy another 2.1 system rather than fixing the old system as it would cost almost as much to fix as it would be to buy new. One speaker was quite a bit quieter than the other. I had a Klipsch 2.1 ProMedia Speaker System, that after four years of use and abuse to get me through college started not working so well. Delivery came in a short time, and it's been about a month since I've used these. My seller, freshtekbargain, sold me one in good condition. It's definitely worth the full price, and just an amazing deal bought used. Also, I think the audio plug has some connection issues- but a replacement can be had on the cheap at the manufacturers, and it's still under the original price. Only "complaint" is that the wires are really long, but this was a setup originally used for desktop computers, so I really don't mind. The power almost rivals my bose - I just can't see how loud either of them really go without reaching the point where you'll hear me from all over the neighborhood!

I also use these to listen to music in general, the sound is great.

But bass junkies do not despair! This baby gives you all the bass you need and more if you want. The klipsch 2.1 got pretty close for my 1st set of speakers. I'm really into hearing music as it is, with nothing added, like bass. I didn't want just anything, but a pair that would give clarity and detail, almost like a pair of my earphones from Etymotic. I was in search of a set of speakers that I could play my digital piano through.
